The University of Macau (UM), Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and Macao University of Tourism (UTM) held the first joint opening ceremony for the 2026/2027 academiy year at the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) Town on 8 September, according to the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ).
The join opening ceremony was held at the first-phase campus of the University Town in the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, officiated by Macau’s Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai among other officials.
The other officials included Zheng Xincong, Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR’s Director Zheng Xincong, Ng Wai Han, Macau SAR’s Secretary for Economy and Finance as well as Director of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Lyu Yuyin, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, as well as Macau’s Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture O Lam.
This academic year, the first-phase campus of the University Town welcomes over 1,450 postgraduate students enrolled in programmes covering areas such as artificial intelligence, microelectronics, big data and the Internet of Things, as well as cultural and creative industries management.
