The “Exhibition of Masterpieces of Ancient Chinese Painting and Demonstration Works by Modern Masters” is currently being held at the UM Cultural Building’s Exhibition Hall, featuring more than 40 works across three thematic sections, with the exhibition tracing the historical development of Chinese painting and exploring the relationship between ‘learning from ancient masters’ and ‘learning from nature’.
The exhibition is jointly organised by the Centre for Chinese History and Culture (CCHC) and the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Macau (UM), with CCHC Director Zhang Yan serving as the exhibition’s chief curator, while Li Haihao, a doctoral student in the Department of Fine Arts, also serving as a curator.
By bringing classic painting models and demonstration works by renowned masters to UM, the exhibition enriches teaching and research resources in fine arts, while also enabling faculty and students to deepen their understanding of the cultural significance and historical development of traditional Chinese painting, giving the exhibition both academic and educational value, according to UM.
The exhibition is open from 10 am to 6 pm daily, except Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, until 30 September. Admission is free. More details about this exhibition can be found via this link.
