Indonesian singer Putri Ariani, 17, has made it to the final of this year’s America’s Got Talent competition after she wowed the show’s judges in the semifinal with a rendition of U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”. The Yogyakarta teen became an instant worldwide sensation after auditioning earlier this year with an original song, “Loneliness”, and Elton John’s “Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word” – which judge Simon Cowell clarified that he merely requested a second song as he was so impressed by the singer and would like to hear her sing again. In that audition, Ariani received a Golden Buzzer from Cowell, automatically advancing her to the semifinal.

Ariani was born in Riau and diagnosed blind just three months after birth. Previously, she joined Indonesia’s Got Talent in 2014 and won the competition at the age of 8. She has also competed in The Voice Kids Indonesia but was eliminated, according to various media reports.
