A £2.3-billion rail bridge between Singapore and the Malaysian state of Johor – named RTS Link project – is expected to start operating on 1 January 2027, cutting the journey time between the two places from the current four hours to merely six minutes, according to various media reports. At present, land travels between Singapore and Johor can only be done by driving via two bridges over the Johor Strait
