Mainland China has recently launched the world’s first ultra-fast 10G network in Xiong’an, a futuristic smart city and a state-level new area – located about 100 kilometres south of Beijing – in Hebei province, with the network expected to enable instant movie downloads and seamless cloud gaming experiences, among others.

The network is developed with the support of Huawei and China Unicom, according to various media reports

The 10G broadband network has been reported to be able to reach peak speeds of up to 9,834 megabits per second (Mbps), making it one of the fastest commercially available internet services in the world, according to a news report by Tempo. (Gilbert Humphrey)
