The “Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum 2024” (GLSTF 2024” will be held at the MGM Cotai from 11 and 12 September, bringing to Macau around 700 key government officials and representatives from international organisations, major international timber associations and enterprises in about 40 countries and regions.
GLSTF aims to contribute Macau’s strength to the sustainable development of the timber industry and the slowdown in climate change, demonstrate Macau’s green, divers and international image and advantages, as well as help the industry around the world to exchange ideas and create opportunities for cooperation, according to Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).
Last year’s inaugural event was held at the Galaxy International Convention Center in November.
Themed “Together Towards Reliable and Effective Global Timber Supply Chains”, the GLSTF 2024 is jointly hosted by the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO) and IPIM, organised by the Secretariat of the Global Green Supply Chains Initiative (GGSC) and supported by MGM as the “diamond partner”.
The forum will feature exhibition areas displaying wood products and small timber building materials.
Meanwhile, supported by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute of the Macao SAR, the platform of the Global Timber Index (GTI) and the project of the Blockchain-based Timber Traceability System (BTTS), jointly initiated by the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO) and the Global Green Supply Chains Initiative (GGSC) have gained new achievements. These achievements will be showcased during the event.
Among those attending this year’s event will be representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, the World Wildlife Fund, as well as the Green Climate Fund, according to IPIM.
