Filipino-American model Chelsea Anne Manalo was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2024 during the beauty pageant’s final at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on Wednesday, defeating over 50 other contestants as a representative of Bulacan province.
Placing second in the beauty pageant was Stacey Daniella Gabriel of Cainta.
Manalo was born in the Bulacan city of Meycauayan in 1999 to an African-American father and a Filipina mother. She previously competed in Miss World Philippines 2017, finishing in the top 15. Apart from modelling, she is an advocate for the indigenous people in the Philippines.
Manalo is now scheduled to represent the Philippines in Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico sometime in September.
Meanwhile, the Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) organisation has named four other finalists from this year’s event to compete in other international pageants.
Tarah Valencia of Baguio has been named Miss Supranational Philippines 2025 and Cyrille Payumo of Pampanga is Miss Charm Philippines 2025, while Iloilo’s Alexie Mae Brooks of Iloilo was named Miss Eco International Philippines 2024.
One of this year’s favourites, Maria Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon province – who placed third in the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 – has been named Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024, according to various media reports.
