Hong Kong singers George Lam, Sally Yeh and Johnny Yip will be among the highlights in this year’s countdown event in Macau SAR on 31 January, according to the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
Lam and Yeh will perform in the “2024 Macau Countdown Concert” at Sai Van Lake Plaza, while Yip will participate in the closing performance of the “2024 Taipa Countdown Show” at Taipa Houses. Both events are organised by IC.
Other singers featured in the Macau performances are Maria Cordero, German Ku, Vivian Chan, Rico Long, Nick Ngai, FIDA, Daze in White, Ocean Walker, Ying May Supermarket, KC Ao Ieong and DAX One Dance Complex, with Bobo Leong and Jeoffrey Wong to be the MCs.
In Taipa, the performances will focus on the integration of diverse cultures that exist in Macau, with participation of local singers and bands like winifai, Concrete/Lotus and Peony & Lon.
In addition, a series of cultural performances will be presented, including a dance piece by Victor Kumar and the Bollywood Dreams Group, traditional Philippine dance by the Bisdak Association of Macao, traditional songs and dances by the SAR’s Indonesian, Myanmar and Vietnamese communities, Jason Fong’s light juggling and magic shows, as well as Youth Variety Show.
Moreover, cultural booths will be set up by members of the local Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Myanmar and Vietnamese communities in the Macau side from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm, showcasing traditional costumes, tourist information, authentic snacks and drinks, as well as “highlighting the lifestyle in Macau characterised by the harmonious co-existence and integration of different cultures and peoples”, according to IC.
