Indonesia’s Mikael Jasin recently won the 2024 World Barista Championship (WBC), which took place in Busan, South Korea from 1-4 May, defeating 52 other competitors from around the world, according to Daily Coffee News.
First held in Monte Carlo, Monaco in 2000, the WBC is operated by the World Coffee Events (WCE), which was established by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) – these two regional bodies have since unified.
Meanwhile, Jack Simpson (Australia) and Takayuki Ishitani (Japan) came second and third, respectively, in this year’s WBC.
