The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) recently held a “Symposium on Global Carbon Neutrality Trends and ESG Compliance in the International Gaming Industry” in support of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and with the aim to promote the green, low-carbon development of Macau’s tourism industry.
Hosted by MPU’s Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies (CJT), the symposium presented Macao Finance Technology and Education Development Association Vice President Cicy Shi and Special Research Fellow Justin Hu as keynote speakers; and was attended by representatives from Macau’s six integrated resort companies, gaming equipment suppliers, Macao Emission Exchange, as well as MPU teachers and students.
The symposium discussed sustainable development within the global climate governance framework, with both keynote speakers sharing insights on the relationship between global carbon reduction trends in the tourism and leisure industry, as well as strategies for fostering a green transformation in Macau’s tourism and leisure sector.
