A media art exhibition, entitled “Perceptual Inertia”, kicked off at the Bookand yesterday, showing the work of three Macau artists – OBE, Hoi Ian Wong and Kuok Pan Wong.
OBE is an audio-visual artist who has since 2012 taught himself electronic music software and music production-related techniques, which led him to conducting in-depth exploration of electronic sound and images, as well as creating interactive works. In this exhibition, he organised live performances and created installation works using audio-visual.
Hoi graduated from the Department of Communications Design at Shih Chien University in Taiwan. She has been involved in various exhibitions. Last year, she was invited to participate in the Bangkok Biennale 2023. Her artistic style is characterised by a unique focus on the details of portraiture. Renowned for her inexplicable brushstrokes that delicately observe the nuances of facial features and body postures, Hoi constructs intricate and authentic expressions.
Kuok is a multi-disciplinary artist currently residing in Taiwan, where he works as a program developer at a new media studio and is also a leader of Taipei-based band “The Whisperer”. He also produces experimental music and has been actively researching the possibilities of applying AI, virtualisation and game technology.
Curated by Hue Pang and organised by the Macau New Media Art Association (MNMAA), the exhibition is open from noon to 10 pm daily, except Tuesday, until 1 April. Admission is free.
