The 2024 Macao International Parade was successfully held yesterday, featuring 1,800 performers from 64 local art groups as well as other countries and regions, including Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Togolese Republic, France, Spain, Norway, United Kingdom, Italy, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Here’s the list of the participating groups who won the awards in the 2024 Macao International Parade:
Macau International Association of Oriental Dance – Most Popular Award
Santo Niño de Cebu in Macau Association – Most Energetic Award
Macau Pui Ching Middle School Dance Troupe – Most Creative Award
Macau Youth Street Dance Association – Best Performance Award
White World (France) – Best Costume Award
Marte Johanne Ekhougen (Kilden Theatre, Norway) – Parade Queen Award
Oliver Joachim Miroglio and Messamer Tarek (Dodos, France) – Parade King Award
Bisdak Association of Macau – Outstanding Theme Award
Jointly organised by Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and the city’s six integrated resort companies, and supported by various other local government departments, including Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), this year’s Macao International Parade, the 10th edition, was the first one held in March. It was previously held in December.
This year’s parade told the story of the parade’s mascot, VIVA (stands for “vibrant, ignite, variety and ambient”), a performing arts enthusiast who travelled with the public from the Ruins of St. Paul’s to a magical and mysterious planet, looking for the secret of wonderful performances, according to an IC press release.
Meanwhile, various large-scale installations including puppets, large balloons and spaceships appeared on the stage and audience areas, while various groups presented performances as the parade promoted the spirit of “Love, Peace and Cultural Integration”. (Gilbert Humphrey)
