Japan aims to work with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to train 100,000 highly skilled digital professionals in the fields of artificial intelligence and semiconductors over the next five years, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Thursday.
Kishida also said the second ministerial meeting of the Asia Zero Emission Community framework, which is led by Japan and involves Australia and ASEAN members (except Myanmar), will take place in Jakarta, capital city of Indonesia, in August, according to a report by Kyodo News.
In addition, Japan and ASEAN will develop a 10-year strategy through 2035 to promote the next-generation automobile industry, with the plan scheduled to be unveiled in the fall. The strategy will be formulated in cooperation with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, headquartered in Jakarta.
