Maria Luisa Abaño Varela from the Philippines was crowned Miss Planet International 2023 in Cambodia on 29 January. Coming second in the competition was Zimbabwe’s Jemima Mandemwa, while Ono Aya from Japan placed third. The beauty pageant was established in Cambodia in 2019 to support the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
