PHOTONEWS: HERE’S MORE OF THE PALAZZO VERSACE MACAU

Palazzo Versace Macau started operating last year, building up its momentum before finally having a star-studded Grand Opening last Saturday. It is the first Palazzo Versace luxury hotel in Asia and the second worldwide following the Palazzo Versace Dubai, which opened in November 2015.

Situated within one of the three towers of the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau in Cotai, the 12-floor Palazzo Versace Macau hotel offers 271 rooms and suites. Interior design is evocative of an Italian Palazzo, and Versace’s Milanese heritage and signature flair are immediately evident.

Codes of the House including the Medusa, geometric Greca motif and Barocco print are each rendered in alternate craft finishes throughout. A design expression unique to Palazzo Versace Macau interplays this Italianate aesthetic with symbols rooted in local Chinese custom – the Chrysanthemum flower and an ornate dragon – that are featured throughout the hotel.

The hotel has a spa, a personal training studio, two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and two Italian restaurants. The Michelin-starred, family-owned Don Alfonso 1890 on the same level as the swimming pools presents the true flavours of Southern Italy in a setting lavishly adorned in Venetian terrazzo, featuring private dining rooms, a cocktail area and an open kitchen.

The other restaurant, La Scala del Palazzo, is located on the lobby level. It evokes the grand staircase of the Versace Palazzo at Via Gesù 12 in Milan in a warm and playful décor. (Gilbert Humphrey, PR)
