A tropical storm named Fung-wong has formed east of the Philippines and is predicted to come near Macau around Wednesday (12 November), according to the forecast tropical cyclone track published by Macau’s Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG).

Furthermore, Fung-wong may bring disruption to this year’s Macau Grand Prix activities, depending on the typhoon’s intensity, with the racing event scheduled to take place from Thursday to Sunday next week.

As of yesterday morning, Fung-wong was forecast to move west-northwest at around 22km/h towards the Philippine vicinity, where the tropical storm is predicted to turn into a super typhoon this Sunday (9 November).
